The Mongolian church is facing a busy summer. Our summer program in July will be our first alone. Last year we shared a program with a church from Ulaanbaatar. We also have baptisms, celebrations, World Prayer Day (for which we’ve rented the outdoor stadium), all-church prayer meetings, short-term teams from the States, and many leadership trainings and meetings planned.
Looking back on this unexpected and all-important outpouring of grace, we can see so many small, almost unnoticed, things that God carefully orchestrated to prepare the ground for the waterfall of wonders that was on its way. It really wasn’t as sudden as it seemed at the time to those of us caught up in the middle of it. Our shift to a more indigenous Biblical terminology had really occurred in many smaller steps: early on, Bayaraa had translated Genesis from an Inner Mongolian source that used Borkhan (and though we changed it to the then more acceptable Yurtuntseen Etzin, we put a disclaimer on page one explaining both terms); we adopted the ‘Red Bible’ as soon it was available; talked, prayed, discussed, met, evaluated and made adjustments in what we were doing and teaching; and finally we decided to “change God’s name.” The Father was hard at work for many months so the Mongolians would respond to the healings, gifts, and deliverance He caused to burst forth with the April clouds.
